Embark on an unforgettable 8-day overland journey from Kathmandu to Tibet and back via the Kyirong border. Travel across the spectacular Tibetan Plateau, visit Everest Base Camp (North Face), explore ancient monasteries, sacred lakes, historic cities, and the cultural highlights of Lhasa.
Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu – Kyirong
Drive through Nepal’s scenic Trishuli River valley to the Nepal–Tibet border. Complete border formalities and continue to Kyirong. Rest and acclimatize.
Day 2: Kyirong – Tingri
Travel deeper into Tibet across the high plateau. Enjoy views of vast plains, yak herds, traditional settlements, and Himalayan peaks. Overnight in Tingri for acclimatization.
Day 3: Tingri – Everest Base Camp – Shigatse
Travel toward Everest Base Camp on the North Face. Visit Rongbuk Monastery and enjoy spectacular views of Mount Everest. Continue across high mountain terrain to Shigatse.
Day 4: Shigatse – Gyantse – Lhasa
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery before continuing to Gyantse. Explore Kumbum Stupa and Phalkor Monastery. Cross high mountain passes and enjoy views of the turquoise Yamdrok Tso Lake before reaching Lhasa.
Day 5: Lhasa Sightseeing
Discover Lhasa’s cultural treasures, including Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, and Sera Monastery, famous for its traditional monk debates.
Day 6: Lhasa – Shigatse
Visit Drepung Monastery, one of Tibet’s historic and important monasteries. Continue by road to Shigatse through the spectacular Tibetan landscape.
Day 7: Shigatse – Kyirong
Begin the return journey toward Kyirong. Travel through vast plateau landscapes, mountain valleys, and traditional Tibetan settlements.
Day 8: Kyirong – Kathmandu
Cross the border back into Nepal and continue through scenic Himalayan roads to Kathmandu, where your unforgettable Tibet overland adventure ends.
