Arequipa: Sillar Route and Sunset City Tour with Guide

Discover the origin of sillar, a unique material used in Arequipa's historic center, on a guided tour. Visit the Añashuayco Quarry, walk through the Culebrillas Ravine, and explore the city.
Pick up between 9am to 9:30am. Begin your day with a visit to the Añashuayco Quarry, where you can see the sillar extraction process and a large carving of the Church of the Society of Jesus. The quarry is operational, so you can watch the stonemasons at work.

Next, transfer to the Culebrillas Ravine, a small canyon formed by water with walls 15 to 20 meters high. Take a 20-minute walk through the canyon, where you can see petroglyphs created by the Wari culture over a thousand years ago.

Then, visit the Apachetas, stone formations that symbolize gratitude to nature and are considered a good luck charm. Afterward, head back to Arequipa. 1:30 pm you will be around the main square.

After your adventure on the Sillar Route, take a lunch break (not included) near the main square. Then, head to the meeting point in Santa Catalina 204 Arequipa to start your sunset city tour, one block and a half away from the main square. Look for the yellow umbrella.
