Beskrivning

Experience the Sacred Valley beyond sightseeing: weave with Andean women in Chinchero, process salt with a Maras family, and explore Moray, the Salt Mines, Ollantaytambo and Pisac.
Experience the Sacred Valley beyond conventional sightseeing on a small-group journey combining remarkable Inca heritage with living Andean traditions you can actively take part in.

Leave Cusco early in the morning and travel to Chinchero, where you will meet a local group of Andean women who preserve textile knowledge passed down through generations. Instead of simply observing a demonstration, take part in the experience: discover the fibers and natural materials traditionally used in Andean textiles, learn how colors are obtained from natural sources, and participate in part of the process alongside your local hosts.

Continue to Chinchero Archaeological Park and explore its Inca terraces, stone structures and impressive setting among the surrounding Andes.

Travel next to Moray, known for its distinctive circular terraces. Explore the site with your guide and learn about its remarkable design and the relationship between landscape, agriculture and the Andean environment.

The experience continues in Maras Pueblo, where you will visit a local family and discover another living tradition of the Sacred Valley. Learn how locally sourced Maras salt is selected and processed into different types and presentations, and participate in part of the process with your hosts.

At the Salineras de Maras, admire the extensive network of salt ponds cascading across the mountainside from the authorized visitor areas, and learn how naturally saline water is traditionally used to produce the salt closely connected to the community of Maras.

Continue to Urubamba and enjoy an included buffet lunch at Tunupa in the heart of the Sacred Valley.

In the afternoon, visit Ollantaytambo and walk through one of the Sacred Valley's most impressive archaeological complexes, with monumental terraces and stone architecture. Travelers staying in Ollantaytambo or continuing toward Machu Picchu may arrange in advance to finish their experience after this visit.

Then explore Pisac Archaeological Park, where terraces and sweeping views across the valley create another remarkable expression of Inca landscape design. Finish in Pisac Pueblo with a traditional silver and gold jewelry-making demonstration by local artisans. Purchases are entirely optional.

Return to Cusco after a full day connecting archaeological heritage with traditions still practiced by local people today. All scheduled entrance fees are included.
