Your day begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Bangkok. Settle into your private, air-conditioned vehicle and leave the busy capital behind as you travel towards Ayutthaya, Thailand’s magnificent former royal capital.
Your first stop is Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, one of Ayutthaya’s most impressive temples, known for its towering chedi and rows of peaceful Buddha statues. Continue to Wat Lokayasutharam, where you’ll see the enormous reclining Buddha resting among the atmospheric ruins of the ancient city.
Take a break for lunch at a local Michelin Guide-recommended boat noodle restaurant, where you can try one of Ayutthaya’s favourite local dishes. Lunch is at your own expense, giving you the freedom to choose and order whatever you like.
After lunch, continue into the heart of Ayutthaya Historical Park. Visit Wat Mahathat, famous for the iconic Buddha head entwined within the roots of a tree, and wander among the centuries-old temple ruins.
Next, explore Wat Phra Si Sanphet, once the most important temple within the former Royal Palace grounds and instantly recognisable by its three elegant chedis. Your final temple stop is Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit, home to an impressive large bronze Buddha image and an important place of worship for local people.
After a day discovering Ayutthaya’s temples, ruins and local atmosphere, relax in your private vehicle for the journey back to Bangkok, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.
