From Yerevan: Berd City Trip in the Footsteps of Manunia

Visit Berd, one of northern Armenia’s greenest cities, wander through its cozy narrow streets, and discover the many fascinating sights of the region.
Your journey begins in Yerevan, passing along the shores of Lake Sevan, where we will make a short stop for photos. From there, we continue to the Old Sharambeyan Street in Dilijan – a picturesque corner where wooden balconies with fine carvings blend harmoniously with stone walls. Here, you’ll also meet local artisans in their workshops, preserving the ancient traditions of Armenian handicrafts.

The road then leads us through Ijevan, the capital of Tavush region, often called one of the greenest cities in Armenia. Our next stop is the medieval architectural masterpiece of Varagavank Monastery, nestled at the edge of a lush forest.

We’ll continue to Berd, where we’ll stop for lunch before exploring the city. Walking through Berd’s narrow streets, you’ll follow in the footsteps of Manunia – a beloved character of Armenian literature. Everything here feels unchanged, except for the former music school, which now houses the beautiful St. John the Baptist Church. Strolling through Berd feels like turning the pages of Manunia’s story and stepping back into your own childhood.

The tour also includes visits to the medieval Tavush Fortress and the Soranner Dendropark, where trees from all over the world grow side by side. From here, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view over Berd, a city that truly breathes history and greenery.
