Eleven family-owned breweries in the Bamberg city area and around 60 breweries in the nearby Bamberger district produce over 400 different kinds of beer, all hand-brewed, including winners of international awards, traditional varieties and new specialties.
The sheer variety of beer in Bamberg - from rauchbier (smoked beer) to Franconian Kellerbier, from Ungespundetes or lager beer to bock beer - is amazing.
