Discover the local folklore of birds and their nesting spots on a walking tour in Simoonga Village. Spot Schalow's Turaco, White-browed Sparrow-Weavers, and more
Begin your walking safari in Simoonga Village, a key cultural and geographic node just west of Livingstone. Meet your local tracker or community guide and set off on a slow, quiet foot safari along the edge of the Zambezi River’s northern banks, bordering the protected miombo blocks of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
As you walk, listen to your guide share local folklore about the birds and point out their precise nesting spots. Keep your eyes peeled for the striking Schalow's Turaco leaping through the dense canopies, White-browed Sparrow-Weavers nesting near the village outskirts, multiple species of iridescent Bee-eaters, Pied Kingfishers, and the elusive African Finfoot skimming the quiet channels of the Zambezi.
