From Sarajevo: Međugorje, Kravica Waterfalls, Blagaj, Mostar

Explore Herzegovina on a day trip from Sarajevo. Visit the Kravica Waterfalls, the pilgrimage site of Međugorje, and the historic town of Mostar.
Begin your day with a comfortable departure from Sarajevo. As you leave the city behind, the landscape gradually transforms into mountains, river valleys, and Mediterranean-style scenery that marks the beginning of Herzegovina.

Make your first stop in Konjic, a small town beautifully positioned on the emerald Neretva River. Konjic is known for its Ottoman stone bridge, mountain surroundings, and peaceful riverside atmosphere. Take photos of the historic bridge and enjoy views of the Neretva canyon.

Continue toward one of the most beautiful natural attractions in the region, the Kravica Waterfalls. Walk along the waterfalls, relax in nature, enjoy a refreshing swim (seasonal conditions apply), and take photos in one of Herzegovina’s most iconic landscapes.

Next, stop in Međugorje, one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in Europe. Enjoy 2 hours of free time to explore at your own pace. It is possible to visit the Church of St. James or walk up the rocky path to Apparition Hill (Podbrdo), where reported apparitions took place. Enjoy a quiet, reflective experience with panoramic views. For a more demanding uphill walk, it is possible to climb to Cross Mountain (Križevac) and walk along the stone path with Stations of the Cross.

Continue toward Blagaj, where one of Herzegovina’s most extraordinary natural and cultural landscapes awaits. At the foot of a dramatic limestone cliff, the Buna River suddenly emerges from an underground karst spring, creating an almost surreal scene of turquoise water, rock, and traditional architecture. Built beside the spring is the famous Blagaj Tekija, a historic Dervish house that we will visit.

Next, arrive in Mostar. Walk through the Old Town, explore cobbled streets, and reach the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), a UNESCO World Heritage symbol and one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Balkans. Enjoy free time for Bosnian coffee, local food, shopping, or photography in one of the most atmospheric cities in the region.

For a different perspective, you can optionally enjoy a short boat ride on the Neretva River (10€ pp), passing directly beneath the Old Bridge and seeing Mostar from water level.
