Take a half-day trip from Plovdiv to explore two of Bulgaria’s most iconic monuments – Buzludzha and Shipka. Discover amazing views, and powerful history in the heart of the Balkan Mountains.
This half-day adventure takes you from Plovdiv straight into the majestic Stara Planina mountain range, where two remarkable landmarks await. First, you'll visit the legendary Buzludzha Monument – often referred to as the “Bulgarian UFO.” While entry inside is prohibited by law, you’ll get a close look at this iconic structure and a sneak peek through its doors. You’ll have more than 30 minutes at the site to explore, take photos, and enjoy the surreal atmosphere.
Next, we head to the Shipka Monument, a powerful symbol of Bulgaria’s liberation. Located at the top of Stoletov Peak, this memorial offers sweeping panoramic views and a deep dive into Bulgarian history. You’ll have around 20 minutes to walk around freely, climb the steps of the monument, and soak in its significance.
Optional tour extensions are available if you’d like to visit additional sights along the way. Throughout the tour, your guide will share interesting facts and stories, helping you connect with the cultural and historical spirit of these remarkable places.
