Shanghai: Zhouzhuang & Luzhi Water Town Tour with Boat Ride

Take a high-speed train from Shanghai to Suzhou and explore Zhouzhuang and Luzhi, two ancient towns where you can explore historical sites and experience the unique charm of Jiangnan.
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai and take you to Zhouzhuang Ancient Town by high-speed train. Known as the "No. 1 Water Town in China", the town has preserved more than ten ancient bridges from the Ming and Qing dynasties and nearly a hundred traditional residences, showcasing the unique charm of the Jiangnan water town.

First, we will take you on a boat tour. Taking a hand-rowed boat, you can travel through the waterways, admire ancient bridges and historical buildings along the way, listen to folk melodies, and quietly experience a slow-paced lifestyle.

Next, we will head to Zhenfeng Cultural Street, where you can purchase local specialties such as sole-shaped flaky pastries and Wansan pork shanks. At noon, we will take you to savor authentic Chinese delicacies such as pan-fried buns and wontons. However, if you want to order your own meal, we can arrange that as well, but the cost will be at your own expense.

Afterwards, we will take you to visit some historical sites, including:

Twin Bridges: A landmark of Zhouzhuang, formed by the intersection of Shide Bridge and Yongan Bridge. As its shape resembles a key, it is also known as the "Key Bridge".

Shen House: An ancient residence built by the descendants of Shen Wansan, a wealthy merchant during the Ming Dynasty. Covering an area of more than 2,000 square meters, the residence is magnificent, with exquisite carved beams and painted rafters displayed inside. Strolling through the house, you can learn about the historical stories of this legendary figure.

Zhang House: An ancient residence built by the descendants of Xu Da, the founding general of the Ming Dynasty. A small river flows through the house, and people can drive the boat stopped in the backyard into this river, which was once a secret escape route, demonstrating the wisdom of the designer of this residence.

Finally, we will drive to Luzhi Ancient Town. It is among the first batch of China's famous historical and cultural towns, with a history of more than 2,500 years. The town preserves 41 ancient bridges and is renowned as the "Museum of Ancient Chinese Bridges". In addition to enjoying the picturesque scenery formed by small bridges and flowing water, you can also visit Baosheng Temple. The temple houses nine clay-sculpted arhats set against a backdrop of layered rocks. The figures and scenery blend seamlessly into one, earning them the reputation of a "national treasure".

At the end of the tour, we will take you back to Shanghai by high-speed train.
