Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa – Flight to Jinka – Drive to Turmi

Arrive in Addis Ababa in the morning. Enjoy breakfast and explore the city highlights. Take a domestic flight to Jinka, then drive to Turmi via Keyafer. Visit the Benna tribe along the way. Spend the night at Emerald Lodge, Turmi.

Day 2: Turmi – Hamer & Dasenech Tribes

Cross the river by boat to visit the Dasenech tribe. Continue to the Karo tribe, known for their body painting. Spend the afternoon with the Hamer people. If you’re lucky, witness a bull-jumping ceremony. Spend the night at Emerald Lodge, Turmi.

Day 3: Turmi – Erbore & Konso – Arbaminch

Drive through the tribal lowlands to visit the Erbore people. Continue to Konso, known for its UNESCO-listed terraced landscapes and cultural heritage. Arrive in Arbaminch in the evening. Spend the night at Mora Hotel, Arbaminch.

Day 4: Arbaminch Exploration – Flight to Addis Ababa

After breakfast, explore Arbaminch with a visit to a Dorze village, known for its bamboo huts, weaving, and enset culture. Enjoy a Lake Chamo boat safari to see Nile crocodiles, hippos, and vibrant birdlife. Take an optional forest walk in Nechisar for monkeys and more birds. Fly back to Addis Ababa in the afternoon.

Day 5: Addis – Lalibela (Flight)

Take a morning flight to Lalibela. After lunch, visit the first cluster of the rock-hewn churches. Spend the night at a hotel in Lalibela.

Day 6: Lalibela – Second Group of Churches – Flight to Addis

Attend a morning church ceremony. Visit Bete Giorgis and other churches. Take an afternoon return flight to Addis, followed by a festive Ethiopian New Year’s Eve cultural dinner. Spend the night at a hotel in Addis Ababa.

Day 7: Full-Day Addis Ababa New Year & City Tour

Visit the National Museum (Lucy), Holy Trinity Cathedral, and enjoy festive New Year’s celebrations around the city. Spend the night at a hotel in Addis Ababa.

Day 8: Addis – Drive to Awash National Park

Drive through the scenic Rift Valley to Awash National Park, one of Ethiopia’s top wildlife reserves. Enjoy an afternoon safari to spot animals like oryx, gazelles, baboons, kudus, and over 450 bird species. Visit the dramatic Awash River Falls, then take a sunset game drive with chances to see nocturnal animals like jackals and hyenas. End the day with a relaxing swim in the lodge’s natural hot springs.
Overnight: Awash Doho Lodge.

Day 9: Awash – Erta Ale Volcano

Drive north toward the Danakil Depression. In the evening, hike up Erta Ale Volcano to witness the active lava lake glowing under the night sky. Camp under the stars at Erta Ale.

Day 10: Erta Ale – Dalol

Descend to Dalol, the lowest point on Earth. Explore its sulfur springs, salt flats, and see camel caravans. Camp in the desert near Dalol.

Day 11: Dalol – Mekele – Addis (Flight)

Drive to Mekele. Take a flight to Addis. Enjoy a farewell cultural dinner with a live dance performance.
