Visit the iconic Palace of the Popes and its enchanting Pontifical Gardens in Avignon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This combined ticket offers access to the largest Gothic palace in Europe and the intimate gardens that were once directly connected to the Pope’s private apartments. With the Histopad, an interactive tablet, immerse yourself in the history of the palace as you explore reconstructed rooms, frescoes, and architectural marvels from the 14th century.
Begin your journey in the Palace of the Popes, where you’ll discover the private chambers of the popes, the Grande Audience Hall, and the Grande Chapelle. Marvel at frescoes by Matteo Giovannetti and Simone Martini, and learn about the palace's transformation over the centuries. The classic route is done using a digital tablet, the Histopad, offered free of charge at the entrance to the monument. It provides a fun and interactive visit experience. Thanks to augmented reality you will be able to visualize a large part of the rooms of the Palace of the Popes as they could have been in the XNUMXth century.
Then, step into the Pontifical Gardens, a peaceful retreat featuring the recreated Griffon Fountain and a vibrant flower meadow. These gardens, once a private sanctuary for the popes, now invite visitors to relax and reflect.
From June 28, 2025, to January 4, 2026, Jean-Michel Othoniel unveils a gigantic artistic constellation in the city of the popes, with Love as its celestial vault. A major event, a first on a national scale, the largest project ever conceived by the sculptor. With this exceptional exhibition, spread across 10 unique locations, Jean-Michel Othoniel presents more than 260 works for Avignon.

The Palace of the Popes is neither air-conditioned nor heated. We advise you to adapt your equipment when it is very hot or in the middle of winter so that you can enjoy your visit to the monument in the best possible conditions. Thank you for your understanding.
