Give real meaning to your visit to the Acropolis, tapping into the deep knowledge and passion of a local historian, who will guide you to unlock the lasting lessons of ancient Greek history.
You will meet your tour guide and, after entering the archaeological site of the Acropolis from the South Entrance, you’ll find a comfortable spot to sit as the history class begins!

To gain that necessary broader perspective needed, at the beginning of the tour, we offer a concise lesson on the creation of human civilization, and then we place ancient Greek civilization — and Athens in particular — within that framework.

When the introduction ends, we will start visiting the most important monuments of the Acropolis, beginning from the South Slope and continuing up to the main sanctuary, where the most iconic attractions are located.

Yet we will not merely describe the characteristics of the attractions, as happens in most tours; instead, we will reflect on them, explaining their true importance as material expressions of diachronic practices of humanity or of innovative and impactful phenomena in human culture and civilisation, that emerged from the “forge of innovation” created by the competitive environment of the ancient Greek world. Through this process, we aim to understand their modern parallels and our own role as citizens and actors within our societies, as these monuments are important to us as symbols expressing the principles and values upon which our civilisation is built.

We will start with the Theatre of Dionysus — the first theatre in human history. This is where theatre and drama as a practice were born, and where the earliest plays — tragedies and comedies — were performed in front of the Athenian public. All of this being the product of religious tolerance and innovation.

After that, we will pass by the Stoa of Eumenes and briefly visit the sanctuary of Asclepius, the god of medicine, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and finally the Temple of Athena Nike (Victory), reflecting on how public infrastructure affects and often shapes human activity and culture.

From the monumental gateway of the Acropolis, we will admire the view of the historically important surrounding hills and the Agora (the democratic marketplace), analysing their true value while countering the mainstream narratives.

Entering the sanctuary, our penultimate stop will be the Erechtheion, the temple of myths and legends—the social memory of Athenian society—where we will explore how stories and narratives shape the human and social subconscious, and thus human identity and behaviour.

Finally, we will admire the Parthenon, a masterpiece of Classical-period ancient Greek architecture and perhaps the greatest technical achievement of the Athenian democratic state, where we will analyse why it was a temple honouring humanity and why it has been used as a symbol of Western civilisation.

What has a prologue must also have an epilogue. Everything we said, saw, analyzed, and admired during the tour must now come together to form the final lesson that our guests will take with them from this amazing place. Because we have always to remember… we make our history!
