Borobudur, a Unesco World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple or shrine in the world, as well as one of the largest Buddhist monuments in the world. This monument consists of six square terraces on top of which there are three circular courtyards. The walls are decorated with 2,672 relief panels and originally there were 504 Buddha statues.

Borobudur was first built on the initiative of King Samaratungga around 824 AD. Even so, Borobudur Temple was completed near 900 AD during the reign of Queen Pramudawardhani, daughter of King Samaratungga. The architect who was instrumental in designing the temple was Gunadharma

Prambanan is the largest and most magnificent Hindu temple ever built in ancient Java. The construction of this royal Hindu temple was started by Rakai Pikatan as a rival to the Buddhist temple of Borobudur and also the Sewu temple which is located not far from Prambanan.
