Begin your adventure in the early hours, often around midnight or 1 AM, to reach the summit by sunrise. Follow the Selo route, the most popular trailhead, located between Mount Merbabu and the more active Mount Merapi.

Trek through a mix of forested paths, steep ascents, and open savanna areas, with breathtaking views of surrounding mountains such as Merapi, Sindoro, and Sumbing. The round-trip trek takes around 8 to 12 hours depending on pace and weather conditions.
