Next, step into a traditional tea room where the tools and utensils are carefully arranged for the ritual. While sitting on tatami mats is customary, wooden chairs are available upon request. Your comfort is our priority, so feel free to sit however you prefer.

Guided by a skilled tea master, you’ll observe the detailed steps of the tea-making process and learn about the history, tools, and etiquette behind the ceremony. Then, enjoy making your own bowl of matcha using high-quality matcha powder.

You’ll also be served traditional Japanese sweets, known as wagashi, which change with the seasons in flavor, color, and design. Each session is unique—not only through personalized guidance, but also in the seasonal selection of sweets.

Throughout the experience, staff will share the Zen principles that shape the tea ceremony: Wa (harmony), Kei (respect), Sei (purity), and Jaku (tranquility). These values are reflected in every detail of the ritual, offering not just a cultural activity, but a peaceful, meaningful moment in the heart of Kyoto.
