Moshi: 5-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Trek & Game Drive

Embark on a 5-day adventure to Mount Kilimanjaro. Trek through rainforests, enjoy a game drive in Arusha National Park, and capture stunning photos of the mountain.
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive to Moshi town at the base of the mountain. Meet your mountain guide for an evening briefing and gear check. Explore Moshi’s vibrant local markets and take golden-hour photos of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snowcapped peak (if clear).

Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration. Start trekking through lush rainforest, spotting colobus monkeys and colorful birds. Enjoy lunch en route and reach Machame Camp by afternoon. End the day with an evening campfire briefing and a photo session of the misty forest.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Plateau

Hike through moorland vegetation with panoramic views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau. Stop for short rest and wide-angle landscape photos. Spend the evening at Shira Camp, with views of the Kibo peak glowing at sunset.

Day 4: Descend and Arusha Game Drive

Begin with an early morning descent from Shira Camp via Mweka Route to Mweka Gate (approx. 4–5 hrs). Receive a certificate for your climb. Then, drive to Arusha National Park for a short game drive, spotting zebras, giraffes, colobus monkeys, and, if lucky, buffalos near the Momela Lakes. End the day with a late afternoon drive to your lodge.

Day 5: Amboseli Game Drive and Departure

Depart early for Amboseli National Park (approx. 3 hrs). Enjoy a game drive beneath Kilimanjaro’s southern face, famous for elephant herds and birdlife. This is a perfect spot for wildlife photography with Kilimanjaro’s snow peak in the background. Have lunch at Oltukai Lodge or Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge. Optionally, visit a Maasai village for cultural portraits before drop-off at the border or return to the airport.
