Açıklama

This tour is available only on Christmas Day & New Year's Day. During this Half Day Excursion we visit, the old Capital City of Mdina, the village of Rabat, Mosta & Dingli Cliffs.
Mdina - Mdina is built on a plateau in the centre of the island, the city’s old Baroque buildings, cathedral
and magnificent bastion walls dominate the rural skyline. Mdina, once the capital city of Malta has had many names including Melita (Roman Occupation), Medina (Arabic Occupation), Citta’ Nobile (Knights of St. John) and Citta Vecchia (after Valletta was built). Today is also referred as the Silent City since it inspires tranquillity at any time of the day or night. The only way to really experience and enjoy this city is on foot, explore the quaint alleys, narrow streets, ancient buildings and magnificent far reaching views from the high bastion walls.

Rabat - Rabat is a town in the Northern Region of Malta. The name of the town is derived from the Arabic word for ‘suburb’ as it was the suburb of the old capital Mdina. Rabat is home to the famous Catacombs of St. Paul. These catacombs were used in Roman times to bury the dead as, according to Roman culture, it was unhygienic to bury the dead in the city Mdina and parts of Rabat were built on top of an ancient Roman city. The Maltese Catacombs were never meant to be hiding places during persecutions or as living quarters. The Catacombs of St. Paul are now looked after by Heritage Malta. Part
of St. Paul’s Catacombs, the part accessible from the Parish church which is dedicated to the same Saint, was where, according to tradition and as recorded in the Bible, St. Paul stayed for three months when he was shipwrecked on the island in 60 A.D.

Mosta - Inspired by Rome’s Pantheon, the church in the centre of the city was built in the 18th Century. It became known throughout the country in 1942 when during World War II, a dropped bomb failed to explode, thus sparing the lives of some 300 people. This church has the third largest unsupported dome in the world.

Dingli - Dingli Cliffs, located less than a kilometre to the south west of the village of Dingli. The cliffs are 220 metres high
and are the highest point in Malta! An isolated chapel makes for charming landmark. Built in the 17th century, the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene offers some of the most beautiful views you can get from these cliffs. From here you can also see the tiny uninhabited islet of Filfla.
