Get ready for a chill day out at Macaneta! We’ll head to the beach, relax & enjoy a nice Mozambican lunch. If you’re up for it, you can also go for an optional horse ride along the beach.
We leave Maputo around 08:30/09:00 and head out for a quick and easy 45-minute drive to Macaneta. On the way we pass through a small town called Marracuene and cross the new bridge over the Incomati River, slowly leaving the city behind and getting into that relaxed coastal atmosphere.
As we arrive, you can already feel it.. fresh sea breeze, open space, and that chilled beach feeling. On the way up to the resort you’ll see local life, small towns, and coastal communities along the road, with cattle around and a very calm atmosphere. We’ll make a quick stop at the Macaneta Glass House (Casa de Vidro), built using recycled glass bottles and cement. a really cool and different spot. You can have a look around, check out the small museum and library, and learn a bit about global waste and ways to take better care of nature. If we’re lucky, some monkeys and squirrels might be hanging around the Glass House, resort and restaurant area to welcome us too.
Once at the resort, you can head down to the beach right by the restaurant, chill, grab some food, and enjoy the view. The resort sits right between the Incomati River and the Indian Ocean, which makes it pretty special. While you eat your lunch at the restaurant, you’ll have a nice view of the river. super relaxed place all around. ✨
Around 17:30, we head back to Maputo after a full day of beach, nature, and adventure vibes.

Please note that the ocean in Macaneta can sometimes be quite rough, with strong waves. For your safety, we don’t recommend going into the water unless you are a confident swimmer. That said, the beach is still perfect for relaxing, walking, and enjoying the breeze.
