Explore Kathmandu's streets, markets, and UNESCO sites on a walking tour. Visit Thamel, Durbar Square, and the Monkey Temple.
Begin your tour in Thamel, just in front of the main entrance of the Garden of Dreams. Head towards the southern part of Thamel and visit Thahity. Then, after visiting Katheswoyambhu and Bangemudha, make your way to the local market area.
Pass through the oldest and liveliest markets like Asan and Indrachowk, visiting glass bead shops. Cross the road and go to the northern gate of Kathmandu Durbar Square. From there, go through the typical Newari residential area named Yatkha and visit a local temple dedicated to the mother goddess, Kankeshwori Chamunda, where you can see a local cremation place for the community.
Walk for 45 minutes to the hill, the Monkey Temple, walk around, and then head back to Thamel.
