Leave the city behind and ride out from Kathmandu on a 2-day motorbike escape to Chitlang, a historic hill village known for its slate-roofed houses, stone paths, terraced fields, and slower pace of life.

On the first day, begin with hotel pickup in Kathmandu and head out via Thankot, climbing steadily toward Chitlang. After arriving in the village, walk through one of the best-preserved traditional Newari settlements in the hills around the capital. Pause at a local teahouse, then continue toward Kulekhani, Nepal’s first hydropower reservoir lake, where you can stop for photos and enjoy a break by the water.

Later, sit down for lunch at a village guesthouse, where the menu may include a local Newari thali or Kulekhani trout, a regional specialty linked to the area’s fish farms. In the afternoon, visit a trout farm or head to the Markhu viewpoint for reservoir views, with the option of a short forest walk for those who want a little more activity.

End the day with a walk to a nearby ridge for sunset before dinner and an overnight stay in a local homestay or guesthouse. Depending on the season and group size, there may also be a campfire in the evening.

On the second day, start with an early walk for sunrise over the surrounding hills, weather permitting, followed by breakfast. Before returning to Kathmandu, spend more time around the village to observe local agricultural life. Chitlang is especially known for potato farming and beekeeping, and the morning may include a visit to a local farm or a look at traditional rural practices.

Then, ride back via Thankot and arrive in Kathmandu in the early afternoon, where the trip finishes with hotel drop-off.
