From Muscat: 2-Days, 1 Night in Wahiba Sands

Explore the natural beauty of Oman on a 2-day tour from Muscat. Visit the Wahiba Sands, Wadi Bani Khalid, Sur, Wadi Shab, Fins Beach, and Bimmah Sinkhole. Enjoy a night in a desert camp and take a dip in the turquoise waters of the Wadi Shab.

On day 1, leave Muscat and head to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the biggest and most beautiful wadis in Oman. Take a short walk to see the sparkling, blue, clear water pools 9 meters in depth. Relax and sunbathe in the beautiful scenic wadi canyon.

In the afternoon, continue your journey to the Wahiba Sands. Relax in the camp or take part in an adventurous 4x4 drive in the sand dunes. Watch the stunning sunset of the desert on one of the big sand dunes. Finish the day with dinner at the camp.

On day 2, after breakfast in the camp, leave the desert towards Sur. Take a small city tour in Sur and visit the famous Omani Dhow Factory, where you can see traditional wooden dhows being built.

Continue your journey to Wadi Shab, an enormous canyon gorge that is lined with palm trees and impressive indications of what the power of the water coming down from the mountains can do in nature. With a 45-minute hike up through the canyon, arrive at one of the crystal clear water pools. Swim through the warm waters from pool to pool, eventually arriving at the last pool where an opening among the enormous rocks allows you to swim into an incredible crevice cave with a small waterfall inside.

Stop at Fins Beach, which opens up to a panorama of strikingly white sands and intriguingly pebbly beach, with sparkling turquoise waters and a soft cool breeze. After visiting Wadi Shab, stop at Bimmah Sinkhole, where swimming in the sinkhole lake is possible.

The Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to the dissolution of the underlying limestone. To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a park there.
