Skip the crowded midday buggies. This Huacachina tour departs at 3:45 pm — the exact window when the desert turns amber and the dunes cast their longest shadows. You'll ride in a 4x4 tubular buggy capped at just four guests, so every seat has a view and the driver-guide can tailor the pace to your group.

After a short safety briefing at the Huacachina Hop base (Lot D7, on the oasis boardwalk), you'll strap in and head into the Ica desert. Your driver-guide, who speaks Spanish and English, tackles a route with three sandboard stops of progressive difficulty: a mellow slope to learn the basics, a steeper mid-dune to build confidence, and a long advanced run for the brave. You choose how you ride — lying down for speed, or standing for the challenge.

Between runs, the buggy climbs the ridgelines for panoramic stops framed by the setting sun. The tour returns to the oasis by 6:00 pm, right as Huacachina's palm trees light up.

ITINERARY:
3:45 pm — Meet at Huacachina Hop, Lot D7 (oasis boardwalk). Safety briefing, goggles handed out.

Sandboard Stop 1 — Beginner dune. Guide demonstrates technique; ride lying down or standing.
Sandboard Stop 2 — Intermediate dune. Longer, steeper descent.
Golden-hour ridgeline stop — panoramic photos as the sun lowers.
Sandboard Stop 3 — Advanced dune. The longest run of the tour.
6:00 pm — Return to Huacachina oasis.
