From ancient Texcoco to the current water crisis: Discover Diego Rivera's hidden murals at the Cárcamo de Dolores and enjoy a picnic in Chapultepec, led by a journalist host. Only 7 spots available.
The city that lost its lake. A tour of Mexico City's complex relationship with water — from ancient Texcoco to the streets that are sinking today — led by Sergio Mancilla Cuevas, a producer, journalist, and human rights consultant who has been the eyes of correspondents and documentary filmmakers in Mexico City.
He tells the story of the water crisis from the inside, without sensationalism. This 4-hour boutique sightseeing tour, with only 7 spots per departure, starts at the Cárcamo de Dolores — a hidden gem of hydraulic architecture within Chapultepec Park, where Diego Rivera painted extraordinary murals in honor of water. We'll explore the site from the inside and out with a private guided visit, and then stroll through the park at a leisurely pace, weaving together art, history, geography, and reflection.
We'll take a break for an artisanal picnic with traditional Mexican food (vegetarian and vegan options) and drinks — both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The experience ends at the Museum of Natural History and Environmental Culture, completing the arc from art to science. Part of the Bajotierra Collection — tours for curious travelers who want to understand Mexico City beyond the postcard, through the element that shaped it and now threatens it.
