Embark on an 8-day trek through the Cordillera Huayhuash, crossing 8 high passes, including the 5,020-meter Trapecio Pass. This challenging adventure requires a good level of fitness and acclimatization.
**Day 1: Huaraz - Cuartelhuain (4,180 m) - Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m) - Mitucocha (4,230 m)**
Transfer to Cuartelhuain, the starting point of the trek. Hike for 5 to 6 hours to reach the Mitucocha campsite.
**Day 2: Mitucocha (4,230 m) - Carhuac "Yanapunta" Pass (4,650 m) - Carhuacocha Lagoon (4,140 m)**
Hike for 5 to 6 hours to reach the Carhuacocha campsite.
**Day 3: Carhuacocha Lagoon (4,140 m) - Siula Pass (4,800 m) - Huayhuash (4,350 m)**
Ascend to the Siula Pass at 4,800 meters, with views of Siula, Yerupaja Grande, Yerupaja Chico, and the 3 famous Huayhuash lagoons. Hike for 7 to 8 hours to reach the Huayhuash campsite.
**Day 4: Huayhuash - Trapecio Pass (5,000 m) - Elephant Camp (4,560 m)**
Hike for 5 to 6 hours to reach the Cuyocpampa campsite.
**Day 5: Cuyocpampa (4,560 m) - Santa Rosa Pass (5,070 m) - Huayllapa (3,600 m)**
Ascend to the Santa Rosa Pass at 5,070 meters for impressive views of Huayhuash's highest mountains, Laguna Jurao, and Sarapococha. Hike for 8 to 9 hours to reach the Huayllapa campsite.
**Day 6: Huayllapa (3,600 m) - Tapush Pass (4,770 m) - Gashpapampa (4,570 m)**
Hike for 5 to 6 hours to reach the Gashpapampa campsite.
**Day 7: Gashpapampa (4,570 m) - Punta Yauche Pass (4,850 m) - Jahuacocha Lagoon (4,100 m)**
Hike for 5 to 6 hours to reach the Jahuacocha campsite.
**Day 8: Jahuacocha Lagoon - Jahuapunta Pass (4,650 m) - Pocpa (3,500 m) - Huaraz**
Say goodbye to the muleteers and hike for 4 to 5 hours to Pocpa. Then, take a 3-hour bus ride back to Huaraz.
