Arequipa: Full Day Colca Canyon Tour Roundtrip from Arequipa

Begin with a pickup from your hotel in Arequipa. Drive for approximately three hours to reach the beginning of the Colca Valley, where you’ll stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast before starting your adventure.

After breakfast, start exploring the Colca Valley, stopping at its most important viewpoints. Your first stop will be at the Muyurina Viewpoint, where you can admire the impressive agricultural terraces of the Colca Valley, still used today. Here, you’ll also find local people dressed in their traditional clothing, as well as llamas and alpacas grazing in the area.

Continue to the Antahuilque Viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the entire valley and the longest tributary of the Amazon River. Finally, arrive at the famous Cruz del Cóndor, in the heart of the Colca Canyon, where you’ll spend about one hour admiring the majestic flight of the Andean condors and the impressive depth of the canyon.

On your way back, stop at the village of Maca, one of the most traditional towns in the valley, known for its beautiful colonial church. Here, you’ll also have the opportunity to taste the famous Colca Sour, a traditional local cocktail.

Next, head to the hot springs, where you’ll have about one hour to relax after the early morning start. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious lunch before beginning your return to Arequipa. On the way, stop at the highest point of the journey — Patapampa (4,910 meters above sea level) — also known as the Viewpoint of the Volcanoes, where you can admire the snow-capped peaks of the Andes.

Your final stop will be at the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, home to South American camelids such as llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas. Arrive back in Arequipa around 5 pm.
