Alternative tour of Lima in Gamarra, Mercado de las Brujas (Witches' Market)

La Victoria is a popular district of Lima, famous for its commerce, street food and textile industry, especially noted for the mysterious Mercado de las Brujas in Gamarra.
We will pick you up at your accommodation or meeting point at 9.30 am or 2.00 pm, and together with our expert local guide, we will take you to tour the commercial city of Gamarra, located near the first "Pueblos Jóvenes" (human settlements).
Upon arrival, around 10 am or 2.30 pm, we will climb the highest building of the place to have a panoramic view of the whole city of Lima and the extensive territory occupied by Gamarra. It will be an excellent introduction to the history of Lima and the commercial center.

Afterwards, we will take you for a walk through the streets of Gamarra, where you will have the opportunity to try some local snacks and typical street food (very popular with the locals), and then head to the witches market.

Around 11:30 am or 3:00 pm, we will observe snakes, lizards and other stuffed animals, which are used as alternative medicine, a tradition that has been part of the popular culture since the arrival of the Andean peoples. In addition, you will find a variety of aromatic herbs that shamans use in ancestral rituals to invoke luck, money, wealth and love.

At 12:00 pm or 3:30 pm, black magic is also part of the rituals performed by shamans in Gamarra. Although we do not participate in them, we consider it important for you to see them. At the end, if possible, you will have the opportunity to live a unique experience visiting the wise Andean woman who has the ability to read your future through coca leaves.

At the end of the tour, for a true local experience, we will take the "public train line 1" back to your accommodation. You will return to your hotel around 12:30 pm or 5:00 pm.
