Discover the Amazon rainforest on a 2-day tour from Iquitos. Cruise down the Amazon River, visit a local village, and see the Amazon's wildlife. Spend the night in a jungle lodge and watch the sunrise over the Amazon.
Day 1:
Depart from Iquitos at 9:00 AM and head to the Amazon, the world's most popular river due to its great length and flow. Board a boat to explore the Amazon, the largest tropical rainforest on the planet.
Admire a curious natural phenomenon as you arrive at the Nanay River, where the color of the water changes compared to the Amazon. If you're lucky, you may see some of the pink dolphins that inhabit the jungle.
Continue your animal adventure at the alligator farm, where you'll also see piaches. Learn all about this fish, which can reach up to 3 meters in length.
At around 1:30 PM, head to the banks of the Amazon River, where you'll find a 2-story house made from jungle materials. Rest and enjoy a complete menu.
Set off again at 3:00 PM and visit the Yaguas natives, a village with an economy based on agriculture, fishing, and hunting. Return to the lodge at 5:00 PM for a rest and dinner. Take a night walk to listen to the songs of the birds and insects. Learn which sound corresponds to each animal.
After the walk, retire for the night in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 2:
Leave the house early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise in the Amazon (around 5:00 AM). Watch the colors begin to filter into the dense jungle as the sun rises.
Spend the morning observing the colorful birds that inhabit the Peruvian jungle. See unique species, such as the impressive red macaw.
Before continuing, enjoy a delicious breakfast. Then, head to the serpentarium, a kind of animal reserve where animals have been rescued. Despite its name, sloths, ocelots, turtles, and parrots also live there.
In this area, refresh yourself with delicious drinks made with medicinal plants and tree bark. Return to the house at 12:30 PM to rest before eating. At 2:30 PM, board a boat to return to Iquitos, where you'll arrive at around 4:30 PM.
