TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE 2 DAYS ADVENTURE

Experience a 2-day adventure in Tambopata National Reserve, exploring Sandoval Lake and its rich wildlife, from river wolves to alligators.
DAY 1: Sandoval Lake
Upon arrival at our lodge, we board the boat to begin a 40-minute trip down the Madre de Dios River. After arriving at the Tambopata National Reserve, in only 5 minutes we reach the access to Sandoval Lake. We begin a 3-kilometer walk (approximately 1 hour), during which we will be able to observe a great variety of animals such as monkeys, snakes, tarantulas, tropical birds and parrots.
At the end of the hike, a canoe will take us to our cabins while we explore Sandoval Lake. Along the way, we will be able to see tropical birds on the shore, herons, caimans and the imposing 2-meter giant otter, a characteristic species of the Madre de Dios region.
We arrive at our rustic cabins, where we will enjoy a typical jungle lunch, such as juane, accompanied by a seasonal soft drink.
After lunch, we take the canoe to continue exploring the Sandoval Lake, in direct contact with the local fauna. We will observe animals such as monkeys jumping along the shores and caimans, as well as numerous tropical birds.
We will take a brief pause in the canoe to enjoy a unique sunset on the lake and then depart to look for caimans, and it is possible to find more than 15 black caimans, as well as nocturnal birds, herons and monkeys that peek over the shores of Lake Sandoval. We will then return to the lodge for dinner.

DAY 2: Macaw and Parrot Ecosystem

Very early, at 5:00 a.m., we leave in search of the yellow and blue macaws, and with luck, we may encounter other species during the parrot clay lick activity.
At a height of 30 meters, we will visit the Sandoval Lake tower. As an optional activity, you can participate in piranha fishing. The exploration of the lake continues, allowing us to get to know Sandoval Lake in its entirety.
We return to our cabins to enjoy breakfast, and together with our guide, we prepare for the return to Puerto Maldonado.
