Discover Madeira wine at Quinta do Conde de Torre Bella in Arco da Calheta, on the sunny southwest coast of Madeira. This historic estate belonged to the Count of Torre Bella and is the birthplace of Cossart Gordon, one of the oldest Madeira wine houses, founded in 1745.
The tasting takes place inside the Count's old winery, surrounded by the original wine presses and stone sculptures that have stood there for centuries, or at tables outside when the weather invites it. Your host shares the story of the family, the estate, and how Madeira wine was made and shipped around the world.
Taste 4 Madeira wines: Cossart Gordon 5-year-old, 10-year-old, and 15-year-old, plus a special reserve made here on the farm. The wines are paired with traditional bolo de mel (Madeiran honey cake) and broas de mel (honey biscuits).
This is a small, personal experience hosted by the family who runs the estate, not a large commercial winery tour.
