Take a private whisky tour to the Isle of Islay from Edinburgh or Glasgow, visiting iconic distilleries such as Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Ardbeg, and Bunnahabhain, with scenic Highland stops along the way.

Day 1: Edinburgh/Glasgow to Islay
Your private driver-guide will pick you up and begin the journey west. Stop at Deanston Distillery for a shop and café visit. Continue to Loch Awe, where the ruins of Kilchurn Castle sit in a picturesque setting. Enjoy a lunch break in Oban, with an optional visit to the distillery tasting bar. Travel through the ancient landscape of Kilmartin Glen, stopping at the Nether Largie Standing Stones before reaching Kennacraig for the ferry to Islay. The 2-hour crossing arrives around 8:30 PM. Overnight in Port Ellen or Bowmore.

Day 2: Whisky & History of South Islay
Begin the day with a visit to Kildalton Cross, a stunning 8th-century Celtic cross with origins on the holy island of Iona. Then, explore Islay’s famous smoky whiskies:

At Laphroaig Distillery experience traditional floor malting and become a "Friend of Laphroaig," receiving a plot of land and a dram. Then to Ardbeg Distillery for lunch at the food van, sample a dram, and browse the shop. If time permits go to Lagavulin Distillery to stop by the tasting bar.
At the end of the day we go to Bunnahabhain Distillery which is known for its non-peated and unchill filtered whisky. Here we have a Warehouse Tasting, sampling whisky straight from the cask for an extra cost.
Overnight in Port Ellen or Bowmore.

Day 3: Return via Inveraray & Loch Lomond
Take the morning ferry back to the mainland, arriving around noon. Stop at Inveraray, a charming 18th-century town and home of Inveraray Castle, the seat of Clan Campbell. Enjoy lunch and explore the area.

Next, visit Rest and Be Thankful, a breathtaking viewpoint once used by soldiers building military roads. Continue to Loch Lomond, the largest freshwater lake in Britain, for a scenic walk along the shores.

Return to Edinburgh by 6pm or Glasgow by 5pm.
