Kigali: 10-Day Rwanda Cycling Tour with Volcano Hike

Embark on a 10-day cycling adventure through Rwanda. Ride through tea plantations, hike the Bisoke Volcano, and explore the Congo Nile Trail along Lake Kivu.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrive at Kigali International Airport and be greeted by your guide. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a city tour of Kigali before heading to your hotel for the night.

Day 2: Kigali to Sorwathe (61 km)

Begin your cycling adventure with a challenging ride from Kigali to Sorwathe. Tackle 5 km of climbing followed by a flat road, passing through villages and tea plantations. End the day at the Sorwathe Tea Factory.

Day 3: Sorwathe to Lake Ruhondo (52 km)

Cycle from Sorwathe to Lake Ruhondo, passing through tea plantations, villages, and banana fields. Upon reaching the lake, take a 3.5 km boat ride to your hotel, where you’ll enjoy views of Volcanoes National Park.

Day 4: Lake Burera Tour (25 km)

After breakfast, take a boat to the starting point of your ride. Cycle along the shores of Lake Burera, passing through villages and eucalyptus plantations. Meet local people and experience their way of life.

Day 5: Bisoke Volcano Hike and Transfer to Gisenyi

In the morning, head to Volcanoes National Park for a guided hike up Bisoke Volcano. After the hike, transfer to Musanze for lunch before driving to Gisenyi for your overnight stay.

Day 6: Gisenyi to Kinunu (40 km)

Cycle from Gisenyi to Kinunu along the shores of Lake Kivu. Pass through villages, coffee, and banana plantations. Visit a coffee washing station and spend the night by the water.

Day 7: Kinunu to Bumba (29 km)

Take on a hilly ride from Kinunu, biking around Lake Kivu and exploring fishing villages. Interact with local people along the way. Spend the night at the Bumba camping site.

Day 8: Bumba to Kibuye (33 km)

Cycle from Bumba to Kibuye, enjoying panoramic views along the way. Celebrate the tour’s accomplishments with your fellow cyclists upon arrival.

Day 9: Lake Kivu Islands Tour

Explore Lake Kivu’s famous islands, including Napoleon's Hat and Amahoro, by boat. Enjoy scenic views of rolling hills and terraced landscapes, and interact with local fishermen.

Day 10: Return to Kigali

After breakfast, drive from Kibuye to Kigali, marking the end of your adventure.
