Aboard your van with a tour leader/driver, you leave Montreux for a day that combines medieval heritage and the federal capital, through two of the most iconic destinations in French-speaking Switzerland.
First destination: Gruyères, a medieval village perched on its hill in the heart of the Fribourg region. Its cobbled streets, ancestral houses, and panoramic view of the Fribourg Prealps make it one of the most picturesque villages in Switzerland. The day begins with a visit to the Château de Gruyères, a 13th-century fortress that dominates the village and the valley. Its richly decorated rooms, art collections, and alpine panoramas trace ten centuries of history. From its ramparts, the view encompasses a landscape of meadows, forests, and peaks of striking beauty.
The day continues in Bern, the federal capital of Switzerland and a UNESCO World Heritage city since 1983. In the heart of the historic old town, the Zytglogge, a 15th-century astronomical clock tower, heralds a stroll through the 6 km of medieval arcades that make Bern one of the best-preserved historic old towns in Europe. A stop at the Bear Pit, on the banks of the River Aare, allows you to observe the bears, the symbol of the city, in their landscaped natural space. The day ends at the Rosengarten, a rose garden overlooking the historic old town, with an exceptional panorama of the rooftops of Bern and the bend in the Aare River below.
Your transportation is completely private by van. Admission to the Château de Gruyères is included in the price. Pickup and drop off at your hotel included.
