Start your day early with a hotel pickup from Colombo or Negombo and journey դեպի the lush countryside of southern Sri Lanka. Travel to Ratnapura, known as the “City of Gems,” famous for producing some of the world’s finest sapphires.
Upon arrival, visit a traditional gem mine where you’ll gain firsthand insight into the centuries-old mining techniques still used today. Go beyond observation & step into a safe gem pit, engage with miners & even try your hand at soil excavation and gem washing.
After your mining experience, enjoy a freshly prepared Sri Lankan lunch at a local restaurant, featuring rice, curries, and regional flavors.
In the afternoon, escape into nature with a visit to a nearby waterfall, surrounded by greenery, we will ensure it is the perfect spot to relax, take photos, and soak in Sri Lanka’s natural beauty.
Before heading back, you’ll have the option to visit a gem showroom to see how raw stones are transformed into sparkling jewels & even purchase certified gemstones.
