Hanauma Bay is a stunning, crescent-shaped marine embayment located on the southeast coast of Oʻahu, Hawaii, near Honolulu. It's renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, vibrant coral reefs, and diverse marine life, making it one of the most popular snorkeling destinations in Hawaii.
Formed within a volcanic cone, Hanauma Bay is both geologically significant and ecologically sensitive. The bay is part of a protected marine life conservation area, home to hundreds of species of tropical fish, green sea turtles (honu), and living coral reefs. Because of its ecological importance, visitor access is regulated to help preserve the fragile environment.
Requires advance reservations, and there's an entrance fee for non-residents.
