2-Day Cultural Trips to The Hadzabe and Datoga Tribes

2 days to the rich tribal history of the Hadzabe, Datoga tribes on a safari adventure. Experience a "day in the life" of a local villager as you take part in cultural activities specific to each tribe
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Eyasi - Datoga Tribe
Early morning hotel pickup after breakfast, then departure for Lake Eyasi safari where you will learn more about their fascinating culture. After a picnic lunch, we go to visit the Datoga village of the Datoga tribe. But they are not hunter-gatherers like the Hadza. They breed sheep and engage in agriculture. Datoga are also excellent metalworkers. Weapons, jewellery, tools and other useful items are made from iron. When you approach them, like the Maasai, they will warmly welcome you into their area with a dance and take you into their homes. The Datoga speak a language called Datooga, but the guides will be able to translate the language for you so you can really get to know their lifestyle. You may even be asked to participate in rituals such as grinding corn or trying your hand at making arrows. Datoga like the Maasai may try to sell you some of their items, but most will be small and affordable and not as pushy as the Maasai. So purchases can instead be seen as donations to the camp. Dinner and overnight at Tindiga Tented Camp or similar

Day 2: Hadzabe Tribe Tour After an early morning breakfast, go on a cultural tour with the Hadza community. This is your day with a typical cultured tribe and together you engage in a real hunt. This is a tribe of hunters and gatherers who formerly inhabited the Serengeti, but were driven out by stronger and more aggressive tribes. The Hadza live in a traditional way, hunting game such as dik-diks and collecting honey. Their huts are simple, built in a few hours and just as easily abandoned. Like another hunter-gatherer people, the San tribe of the Kalahari in southern Africa, the Hadza speak a click language. After hunting and meeting the tribe, head to Arusha with a stop for lunch on the way. Later, drop off at your Arusha hotel
