Arusha: 4-Day Safari to Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire
Start your safari with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. Depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full-day game drive. The park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa.


Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti via Ndutu
Start your day with a transfer to the Ndutu region. Once you reach Ndutu, begin game drives with a convenient stop for your picnic lunch. The region forms a part of the route for the annual migration of more than 2 million wildebeests and thousands of zebra, antelope, and gazelle through the Serengeti ecosystem.


During game drives between December and April, see the great migration in this region. Between mid-January and February, witness calving and see hordes of predators prying on vulnerable young wildebeest. Crested with Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek, these waterholes offer plenty of wildlife game during the dry season.


The Ndutu is also the home ground for 6 species of big cats – leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, serval, and wildcat. The action-packed game drive will end late in the evening. Head towards your choice of accommodation, where a freshly prepared dinner awaits you.


Day 3: Serengeti-Ngorongoro Crater Tour to Karatu
Have an early start and head to Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq km with a depth of over 2000 feet.


The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action. Keep your camera ready to capture the African elephant, buffalo, black rhino, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions. Post the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater, then proceed towards your selected accommodation in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.


Day 4: Transfer to Lake Manyara-Arusha
On the last day of your safari, have an early start and head to Lake Manyara National Park with a picnic lunch for a full-day game drive. As you enter the national park, lush forests of Acacia and Mahogany trees begin to set the mood for what is waiting ahead.


The game drive will go on till around 3:00 PM with a small break for a picnic lunch. During the game drive, watch out for buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, baboons, and the blue monkeys. Another spectacle of Lake Manyara National Park is the tree-climbing lions, however spotting them is a game of luck.


In the right season, see the shoreline turning pink with millions of flamingos flocking there. You will be dropped off to your preferred location in Arusha by 6:00 PM in the evening.
