Begin your 2-day adventure with pickup from your hotel in Djerba or Zarzis. Cross the famous Roman Causeway and travel towards Medenine, the gateway to Southern Tunisia. Discover the traditional ghorfas, ancient storage chambers once used to preserve grain, dates, and olive oil.
Continue to Tataouine and explore its lively local market, where traders offer fresh produce, spices, dates, traditional products, clothing, and regional specialties. Depending on the market day, enjoy an authentic glimpse into everyday life in Southern Tunisia.
Visit Ksar Ouled Soltane, one of the region’s most impressive fortified ksour. Explore its spectacular courtyards and multi-level ghorfas while learning about the history and traditional role of these fortified granaries.
Continue through the Dahar Mountains to Chenini, one of Southern Tunisia’s most famous Berber villages. Enjoy a guided walk through the ancient village, discovering troglodytic dwellings, traditional houses, the old mosque, and the historic ksar built into the mountainside. Admire panoramic views over the valleys and rocky landscapes.
Depending on timing and road conditions, enjoy a panoramic stop towards Douiret, another historic Berber village surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. After a traditional local lunch, continue towards the Sahara.
Arrive at Ksar Ghilane Oasis, a beautiful palm oasis surrounded by the desert. Check into your private tent and enjoy free time around the natural hot spring. Relax in the warm water or choose an optional camel ride or quad-bike adventure through the dunes.
In the afternoon, head into the desert to admire a spectacular Sahara sunset. Return to camp for a traditional Tunisian dinner and an authentic desert evening with local music and entertainment around the campfire. Discover the traditional preparation of Mella bread, cooked beneath the hot sand, before spending the night in your private tent under the desert sky.
Wake up early on Day 2 for a peaceful Sahara sunrise, followed by breakfast at the camp. Leave Ksar Ghilane and continue towards Matmata.
