From Yerevan: Khor Virap, Noravank, and Tatev Day Trip

Begin your journey at Khor Virap Monastery, one of Armenia’s most iconic landmarks, known for its deep connection to the country’s Christian history and its spectacular views toward Mount Ararat.

Continue through the red-rock landscapes of Vayots Dzor to Noravank Monastery, a medieval complex set in a narrow gorge surrounded by striking cliffs. Explore the monastery and enjoy time to take in the scenery around one of Armenia’s most distinctive religious sites.

The route then continues to the Areni wine region, where you will visit a local winery and learn more about Armenia’s long winemaking tradition. Enjoy a wine tasting before continuing farther south toward Syunik.

One of the highlights of the day is the Wings of Tatev ropeway, which crosses the Vorotan Gorge and offers impressive views over the surrounding mountains and valleys. After the ride, visit the historic Tatev Monastery, a major medieval religious and educational center set high above the gorge.

Before the return journey, stop at the Svarants viewpoint to enjoy another panoramic perspective over the dramatic landscapes of southern Armenia. After a full day of sightseeing, return to Yerevan in the evening.
