Visit the iconic Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest stone Buddha statue in the world. Take a guided 2-day trip from Chengdu to encounter this UNESCO World Heritage Sight and marvel at Mount Emei.
Day 1: Chengdu - Leshan Giant Buddha - Mt.Emei
The guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Chengdu; then leave Chengdu for Leshan Giant Buddha. It is a ride of 2 hours by the expressway, sightseeing the beautiful rural scene of Chuanxi Plain while driving on the way. The rice paddy fields, vegetable greenhouses, grape garden and tea plants are laid out along the expressway; reach Leshan Giant Buddha at noon.
After having lunch we will visit the Giant Buddha Statue. The project was built in China's Tang Dynasty, for the huge quantities, totally, it took 90 years to complete the Buddha Statue. As tall as 71 meters, the Buddha Statue occupies a whole mountain cliff facing the conjunction point of 3 rivers, hence there is a proverb passed down generation by generation that " the Buddha is a mountain and the mountain is a Buddha"; after the Buddha visit, continue driving to Mt.Emei and stay overnight there.
Day 2: Emei Mountain Full View sightseeing - Back to Chengdu
After breakfast in the hotel, change to the local pollution free sightseeing bus to Leidongping parking lot(2 hours driving), then walk about 20 minutes to catch the cable car up to Golden Summit . We'll visit the magnificent statue of Samantabhadra (Puxian Bodhisattva), the Golden palace and the Silver palace, the cloud sea etc. Then, leave for Wannian monastery located in the waist of Mt.Emei, after sightseeing in this temple, we'll walk down to Qingying pavilion, a strip skyline, and monkey mountain along the tranquil path hidden in the forest, enjoying the pleasure of the peaceful coexistence of man and monkey.
Take the sightseeing bus at Wuxiangang bus station down to the foot of Mt. Emei, then change to our private car and drive back to Chengdu, end the tour.
