Discover the history of the Jewish community on a private walking tour through the former ghetto. Explore hidden places, historic streets and the stories of Jewish scholars, physicians and merchants.
Discover the remarkable history of Padua’s Jewish community on a private walking tour through the former Jewish ghetto and its hidden heritage.

Begin by exploring the historic heart of Jewish Padua, where synagogues, narrow streets and seemingly ordinary buildings reveal traces of a community that played an important role in the city's history.

Learn about the Jewish scholars, physicians, merchants and families who lived and worked in Padua, including the city's historic connection with the university and its tradition of Jewish learning.

Walk through the former ghetto and discover how Jewish life developed under the Republic of Venice, while learning about the restrictions and challenges imposed on the community.

Along the way, visit historic synagogues and other places connected to Padua's Jewish heritage. Your guide will bring the history to life through the people, buildings and stories that remain hidden behind the city's modern streets.

The tour also explores the darker chapters of the twentieth century, including fascist persecution and the Shoah, before looking at the continuity and memory of Jewish life in Padua today.

Rather than focusing only on the former ghetto, this private experience explores the broader history of Jewish life in Padua — from scholarship and commerce to persecution, memory and cultural heritage.
