Itinerary: Mengdong River "World No.1 Rafting" + Furong Town Night Lights Day Tour
Morning – Mengdong River Rafting Experience
08:00 – Hotel pickup in Zhangjiajie downtown. Depart for Hani Palace, the starting point of Mengdong River rafting (approx. 1.5-hour drive).
09:30 – Arrive at Hani Palace Pier. Collect safety gear and receive a safety briefing from the boat crew.
10:00 – Start the Mengdong River rafting! The full journey covers approximately 17 kilometers and takes about 3 hours. Navigate through raging rapids, rushing shoals, and deep canyons, passing 108 rapids and 20 waterfalls including Hani Palace Waterfall, Yantan Shoal, and Luoshui Pit Waterfall.
13:00 – Arrive at Niulu River Pier, the finishing point. Disembark and rest. Optional lunch featuring local Tujia specialties (smoked meat, sour fish, wild vegetables – own expense).
Afternoon – Transfer to Furong Town
14:00 – Depart for Furong Town by private vehicle (approx. 30-minute drive).
14:30 – Arrive at Furong Town. The afternoon light is perfect for a leisurely stroll along Wuli Old Street. Explore the Tujia stilted houses and visit the famous Liu Xiaoqing Rice Tofu Shop.
15:30 – Visit the town's core attractions: Tujia King Bridge, Tujia King Palace, and the waterfall viewing platform. Experience the unique charm of this "2,000-year-old town hanging on a waterfall."
16:30 – Walk through the water curtain tunnel behind the waterfall – an unforgettable experience. Please watch your step as the trail can be slippery.
Evening – Furong Town Night Lights
18:00 – Find the best viewing spot and wait for sunset. As darkness falls, the town's lanterns begin to glow one by one.
19:00 – The night lights of Furong Town reach their peak. The 60-meter waterfall shimmers under colorful lighting, red lanterns illuminate the stilted houses, and the You River mirrors the dreamlike scene.
19:30 – Enjoy the Tujia cultural performance "Flowers Bloom in Furong – Carnival of the Biziqiao" (included in the ticket). The performance takes place at the Baishe Hall open-air stage, featuring Miao drum dances and traditional Tujia dances.
20:30 – Return transfer to Zhangjiajie downtown.
22:00 – Approximate hotel drop-off. End of tour.

What to Bring and Wear
You WILL get wet – bring a full set of dry clothes to change into after rafting
Wear non-slip sandals or closed-toe shoes. Do NOT wear flip-flops – they are easily washed away
Protect your phone, camera and other electronics – keep them in a waterproof pouch secured around your neck
Bring your own water gun or water scoop for the fun water fights along the way
Bring a light jacket – the temperature is cooler in the ancient town during the evening
