08:00 – 10:00: From Shanghai to Wuzhen
Your journey begins with a private door-to-door pickup from your Shanghai hotel at 08:00 AM. Enjoy a comfortable 1.5 to 2-hour drive as our licensed English-speaking guide shares the millennia-old tales of Jiangnan water towns and introduces Wuzhen’s unique "Living on the Water" architecture.

10:00 – 12:00: Exploring West Gate & Indigo Dyeing
Upon arriving at Wuzhen’s West Gate (乌镇西栅), step into a world that perfectly preserves its ancient charm. Our guide will lead you across cobblestone paths to uncover the town’s cultural soul:

Heritage Walk: Visit the Zhaoming Academy (昭明书院), which is the ancient study of a Liang Dynasty Prince, and the historic Wuzhen Old Post Office. Our guide will also point out the best vantage points to photograph the iconic "Bridge within a Bridge" (桥里桥)scenery.

Indigo Fabric Workshop: Visit the Indigo Dye House to witness traditional craftsmanship. Under an artisan's guidance, you will tie-dye your own fabric in ancient indigo vats—a unique handcrafted souvenir to take home.

12:00 – 13:00: A Taste of Wuzhen
Enjoy a relaxed lunch at a riverside restaurant. With our guide’s expert assistance in ordering, you can savor the local favorites of Wuzhen, such as Braised Lamb (红烧羊肉), Steamed White Fish (清蒸白水鱼), Soy-sauce Duck (酱鸭), and the famous "Boat-end" Zongzi (船头粽).

13:00 – 14:30: Sculling Boat (摇橹船) Cruise
Drift through narrow canals on a traditional sculling boat. As the boatman maneuvers the wooden oar, our guide will share the history behind the ancient bridges and riverside structures, offering a unique perspective on water-town life.

14:30 – 15:30: Shadow Puppetry (皮影戏) in East Gate (东栅)
Head to the East Gate Shadow Puppet Theater to watch one of China’s oldest forms of "cinema." This is one of the few places in the Jiangnan region that still maintains daily live performances.

Each show lasts approximately 15–20 minutes and typically features classic tales such as The Monkey King Creates Havoc in the Dragon Palace (《孙悟空大闹龙宫》) or Borrowing the Palm-Leaf Fan Three Times (《三借芭蕉扇》). After the show, you will have the unique opportunity to step behind the screen to witness firsthand how the master artisans manipulate the intricately carved leather puppets.

15:30 – 16:30: Leisure & Afternoon Tea
Our guide will provide free time for you to explore at your own pace. Wander through narrow alleys to discover handicraft shops or relax at a riverside café to soak in the local atmosphere.

16:30 – 18:00: Twilight & Return
Experience the water town at dusk. Around 17:30 (seasonal), the lanterns are lit, transforming West Gate into a shimmering wonderland. Enjoy a brief window for night photography before we gather for the return trip.

At approximately 18:00, your private vehicle will whisk you back to your Shanghai hotel, concluding your day trip.
