Explore the diverse Ruhr Valley on a Segway: past centuries-old moated castles, evidence of regional industry and culture, and stories about high-proof delights.
Your tour begins with our experienced tour guide at the Sonnenschein private distillery. We cross the Ruhr and drive past the Friedrich Lohmann factory, which has been producing steel in Witten-Herbede since 1790. Passing Haus Herbede, one of the oldest manor houses in the central Ruhr Valley, first mentioned in 1200, we continue to the water tower of the Luhn & Pulvermacher company, built in 1918. From there, our tour leads along Lake Kemnade to the over 700-year-old moated castle Haus Kemnade.
On our way back, we discover Witten-Herbede, pass the Reiger tunnel, which was first mentioned in documents in 1695, and from there continue to the ruins of the Hardenstein moated castle, built in the mid-14th century. We then take the ferry to Witten-Heven and end our journey through the Ruhr Valley at the spirits distillery, founded in 1875.
