Maranhão: Rio Preguiças Sunset Kayak Tour with Guide

Join a kayak tour on the Rio Preguiças and watch the scarlet ibis take flight at sunset. Paddle through mangroves and sandbanks with a local fisherman and support the community.
Begin your adventure in the late afternoon as you board a canoe and glide through the mangroves and sandbanks of the Rio Preguiças, accompanied by a fisherman from the community. Before setting off, receive safety instructions and paddling guidance.

Throughout the route, your guide follows the group in a support canoe, so you can immerse yourself in the experience with peace of mind and feel, up close, the knowledge of someone who knows this river like no one else.

As the sun goes down, watch the scarlet ibis (known here as guará) rise together in a great flight and the landscape turns red: one of those moments when nature reveals itself at its most delicate.

This tour is a Community-Based Tourism experience. The kayaks were purchased with the support of the Associação dos Moradores e Pescadores (the local Residents’ and Fishermen’s Association of Bar da Hora), and part of the revenue goes directly back to the community, strengthening those who care for this territory every day. By paddling here, you become part of that cycle of positive impact.
