Set off on an immersive day tour through the raw beauty of Lençóis Maranhenses with the Atins Discovery Circuit — a perfect mix of scenic nature, rustic villages, and regional flavors. Departing from Barreirinhas at 8:30 AM, your journey begins in a powerful 4x4 vehicle, designed to cross the shifting sand trails that lead deep into the park.

After an hour-long drive surrounded by dunes and native vegetation, we arrive at our first natural wonder: the serene Lagoa do Gavião. This freshwater lagoon, surrounded by bright sand dunes, offers the perfect setting to cool off, take in the silence, and admire the endless sky mirrored in the water.

Next, we continue to the open sea, where you’ll witness the stunning contrast between the Atlantic Ocean and the rolling dunes of the Lençóis. The salty breeze and uninterrupted horizon make it an unforgettable moment of connection with nature.

Then we head to the traditional village of Canto do Atins, home to three of the region’s most beloved local restaurants — Dona Luzia, Sr. Antônio, and Carminha in Ponta do Mangue. Lunch is a highlight of the day, with the famous butter-grilled shrimp, fried fish, sun-dried beef, rice, and salads. Everything is cooked with simplicity, love, and tradition, served under shady trees in a calm, welcoming setting.

With renewed energy, we drive on to the peaceful village of Atins, a small, windswept community at the edge of the park. There we’ll visit the mouth of the Preguiças River, a breathtaking point where river and sea blend into one — a unique natural phenomenon and a perfect spot for rest, reflection, or a barefoot stroll.

But the adventure doesn’t end there. On the way back, we explore more of the magical lagoons hidden among the dunes. Depending on the season, we’ll stop at spots like the Lagoa das Sete Mulheres, the lush Lagoa Tropical, and the scenic Lagoa do Kaite, each offering calm, translucent waters and incredible views.

Around 4:00 PM, we begin the return to Barreirinhas, arriving by 5:30 PM, with the late afternoon sun glowing over the dunes.
