Day 1 — Shanghai: Old City & Skyline
Your guide meets you at your Shanghai hotel or the airport. Begin at Yu Garden, a 400-year-old Ming dynasty masterpiece of pavilions, rockeries, and koi ponds. Stroll through the adjacent City God Temple Bazaar for local snacks. As evening falls, walk the Bund to see the colonial-era waterfront architecture lit against the Pudong skyline, then wander Nanjing Road pedestrian street.
Day 2 — Shanghai: Water Town Zhujiajiao
Drive one hour to Zhujiajiao, known as the "Venice of Shanghai." Ride a traditional gondola through narrow canals lined with Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings. Enjoy lunch at a waterfront restaurant (at your own expense). Return to the city for evening exploration of Xintiandi or Tianzifang, where shikumen lane houses have been transformed into stylish bars and boutiques.
Day 3 — Shanghai to Hangzhou: West Lake & Songcheng
Check out and drive to Hangzhou (approx. 2.5 hours). Afternoon boat cruise on West Lake, visiting Three Pools Mirroring the Moon island. Then head to Songcheng resort for the grand "Songcheng Eternal Love" performance — a spectacular fusion of acrobatics, dance, and light effects telling 2,000 years of Hangzhou history.
Day 4 — Hangzhou to Suzhou: Garden & Old City
Drive to Suzhou (approx. 2 hours). Visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest classical garden in Suzhou. Walk Pingjiang Road, a historic canal-side street, and listen to a Pingtan performance (local storytelling music). Dinner features Suzhou's famous squirrel-shaped mandarin fish (at your own expense). Day 5 — Suzhou to Shanghai: Tiger Hill & Departure
