Tinta & San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso Estate Day Trip

Take a trip through time and history back to the revolution of Túpac Amaru II and an elegant stately home on our Tinta & San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso Estate Day Trip from Cusco.
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off for Tinta, a historic town located just 70 miles (113 kilometres) away from Cusco.

This town is well-known for being the scene of the revolution led by the leader Túpac Amaru II, the largest indigenous independence movement of the former viceroyalty. We'll learn about the life of this revolutionary leader and visit places symbolic to his crusade, such as his museum-house.

In addition, we'll visit the Church of Tinta. In this 17th-century building, we'll find a gold leaf altar and incredible works of art. These include altarpieces by Diego de la Puente, Francisco Serrano and Marcos Rivera. Before we continue with the rest of the tour, we'll stop at a local restaurant so you can have lunch on your own.

After lunch, we'll drive to the colonial bridge of Tinta, a semicircular arched structure built in 1740. We'll cross the viaduct and leave the village behind as we head to the Estate of the Marquis of San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso.

When we arrive, you'll see how this stately mansion that stands atop a hill was built upon Inca walls in a colonial architectural style This luxurious house belonged to the conquistador Rodrigo de Esquivel, whose descendants became the Marquises of San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso.

We'll explore its patios, arcades and other spaces as we admire breathtaking views of the valley of Cusco. This ostentatious mansion was declared a place of Cultural Heritage of the Nation in 1991 and is currently being restored by the National Institute of Culture of Cusco.

Once the visit to the estate has come to an end, we'll return to your hotel, where we'll arrive at 8 pm.
