These educational outings highlight the enduring wonders of the Sonoran Desert, a rare and remarkably diverse ecosystem stretching from Northern Mexico to Southern Arizona. Learn the surprising life history of iconic desert flora like the towering saguaro cactus—a giant that can store enough water to last for long dry stretches and may be far older than it looks.

Then shift your attention to the ground beneath your feet as your guide points out dramatic rock formations with silver, black, and white striations, and explains how tectonic forces and intense heat and pressure shaped the region over millions of years—leaving behind patterns that look like modern art.
