Athens: After Dark Legends, Murders & Mysteries Walking Tour

Explore Athens after dark through chilling legends, political murders, ancient prisons and hidden histories beneath the Acropolis, where fact, folklore and mystery intertwine.
Discover a darker side of Athens on an atmospheric evening walk beneath the Acropolis, where ancient history, local legends and true stories of betrayal come together.

Begin with one of the oldest recorded ghost stories in history before exploring the mysterious rock-cut chambers traditionally known as the Prison of Socrates. Hear the legend of the cannon that never reached Agios Dimitrios Loumbardiaris, walk along Dimitris Pikionis’ remarkable stone pathways, and uncover the brutal murder of revolutionary hero Odysseas Androutsos.

Continue through the narrow streets of old Plaka, past Byzantine churches, historic mansions and the remains of the notorious Ottoman Madrasa prison. Along the way, use EMF detectors and spirit boxes as your expert guide shares eerie tales of strange rituals, unexplained encounters, restless souls and stories that have haunted Athens for generations.

Finish near the Ancient Agora, where the possible location of the ancient State Prison brings the story of Socrates full circle.

A unique evening experience blending dark history, folklore, mystery and paranormal investigation in the heart of Athens.
